Course Description

Level 3: Team Leadership: This (two half day) course provides supervisors the opportunity to explore ways to build a positive and productive team environment. Students will examine the principles of Team Dynamics and Team Development. Case studies will be used to demonstrate the application and the impact of team leadership approaches on team performance and productivity.

Level 4:The Supervisor as the Problem Solver: This (two half day) course focuses on finding creative solutions for everyday work process problems. The topics include: Critical Thinking; Creative Problem Solving and Decision Making.

Objectives & Outline

Learning Objectives:

•  Identify the different types of teams and “best practices” for high performing teams.
• Understand the four stages of team development; know what stage your team is presently in.
• Work with the 6 “team success factors”
• Understand the 4 types of “team players” and how they interact with other team members.
• Improve the “functionality” of your team
• Incorporate the DISC behavior style model into team development
• Understanding the skills and attitudes of Critical Thinking
• Utilizing the 6-step Problem-Solving model
• Employing efficient Decision-Making Strategies
• Avoiding “decision biases”

Requirements:

• Applicants must have completed Supervisory 1
• Applicants must complete all four classes for full course credit
• Applicants may register for Level 3 & 4 even if they have not yet completed Level 2.
• Course completion is required for Master Supervisor Certificate
