Jigs and Fixtures

Course Description

This course is designed to give the student an understanding and working knowledge of how and why jigs and fixtures are designed and built as they are. Two fundamental tool design principles, simplicity and economy, are constantly stressed. The student will learn how to save money in production of a fixture by learning to be cost-effective while ensuring that the tool has the capacity to perform all its intended use/ function.

Objectives & Outline

Upon completion of the course, the student will understand jigs and fixtures, their purpose in manufacturing, and have a limited ability to assist in design and build.
